It’s too much! Every time I turn around someone, with or without any formal training, is regurgitating someone’s idea of what’s healthy. Eat this nutrient, this superfood. These six foods will burn fat! These eight foods will slow weight loss! Exercise this way! Exercise that way! This study shows coffee is good for you and you’ll live to be 1000! The latest research shows you’ll die in two months if you keep drinking coffee!
How is someone who has a life supposed to figure it all out? No wonder people believe what’s on the manufacturer’s carton. The rest of it is just too much!
Worse, because there’s so much noise, people quit listening to the ones who might be able to help them figure it out.
As a health coach, I try to help people discover what will work for them; to cut through the clutter of everything they read. There is skill in that. It’s not a blowing-in-the-wind, look-what-I-read-today approach. It’s based on experience and education.
