While you're smart to get some balance work, I commend you for regularly hiking four miles! I enjoy some balance work on days when I don't feel like a heavy duty workout.
I'm guessing that the reason you're healing so quickly is that you were in good shape when it happened.
I hope you're back to walking and hiking soon. Maybe those walking sticks everyone's advising are a good idea. If not for the physical support, for the mental support. ;)
