This is when my listening skills skitter off to the Caribbean.

I’m a good listener, but couldn’t join in the conversation. Nothing they discussed was relatable to my life. I could have put my two cents in if they’d been discussing politics or social justice or telling jokes, but discussing grand kids is an alien concept, as I don’t have any.
