This is exactly how the Cowboy died except I pulled him upright as he collapsed.

It was mom. Speaking through tears, her voice heaved and cracked as she explained dad had awoken suddenly with a terrible headache, quickly pulled himself up to a sitting position on the side of the bed, then collapsed headfirst onto the floor. The ambulance was on the way.
