There may be a challenge in reformulating any OTC products that has phenylalanine since every ingredient in a product impacts its ability to be used in the body. My recommendation would be to list phenylalanine as an inactive ingredient. That would allow the drug companies to continue using the formula they currently use. I personally don’t know of any decongestant product on the market that only contains phenylalanine.
This is an excellent‘s article with the exception of adding in supplements. Your brief mention of supplements, merely confuses your argument. Supplements use the asterisk regarding the FDA not recognizing the effects. OTC does not.
