The Case for Legalizing All Drugs

We have tried and failed for decades. It’s time to try a new solution.

Here in the US, several states have legalized marijuana, not just for health reasons, but also for recreational use. Kansas is not one of them, Missouri is. I live on the state line and so technically it would be simple for me to procure gummy bears.

Personally, regular marijuana use doesn't have a place in my life. I don’t suffer from anxiety, or depression, or suffer chronic pain. I enjoy a glass of wine, a cold beer after mowing the lawn, or a gin and soda on a hot summer evening.

I don’t see much difference between allowing marijuana versus alcohol. Marijuana use is unlikely to lead to verbal or physical abuse which bodes better for families as a whole. Without looking at the research, it’s my impression that marijuana is a better health option than alcohol having fewer physical ramifications, especially when using edibles.

But, I don’t stop there.

I think we should legalize all drugs, not just marijuana.
