Thanks, Maria!
I grew up with mostly natural food, with the exception of some snacks, bread, and chips (all of which were far healthier than today's versions), then moved into the 70s, 80s, and 90s adding far more junk food into my diet.
When, in the 2000s I returned to healthy eating, the effect on my health was staggering. About five years ago I switched to low carb/low oxalate and will never look back. Outside of this ridiculous bronchitis I just got, I feel amazing, and at 74, that's saying something.
I credit it with having a solid base as a child and having lived during a time period when cooking was essential.
I watched a documentary about sugar several years ago in which an Appalachian child of 18 had to have all of his teeth pulled and be fitted for dentures because of his Mountain Dew diet. When asked to comment, Pepsico said, "Mountain Dew can be part of a healthy diet." ARGHHHHHH!!!
