Pen Pals or Medium Challengers?

Yep, another haiku or two.

I don’t remember having a pen pal, ever, so I thought I’d write about finding a pen pal and tips on how to be a good pen pal. After a little research, alarm bells started clanging, as loud as if I’d been standing next to the fire station when a call came in. Human trafficking scum find their way into every activity that children are interested in, and once that was lodged in my brain I simply couldn’t bring myself to write about it.

I was at a loss. I had no idea how to answer the prompt. And then, I realized the similarities …

Interesting this
much like our challenge tribe
sharing across worlds.

We cover the globe
reaching far across borders
bonding together.

Long-distance friendship
writing our lives, openly
much is uncovered.

Getting to know you
through stories and responses
barely different.

Explore a new world
of quirky, like-mindedness
in this little tribe.

So, maybe this piece
is one protracted ending.
that’s kind of funny.

Ending each piece with a haiku has kind of become my thing. It’s interesting to distill the central theme of a piece down to seventeen syllables.
