Not so! There are a plethora of viable reasons to screen. (new definition meaning, doing anything on a screen.) Consider some reasons to screen:

  • You’re a gay 13-year-old in a fundamentalist Christian family.
  • You’re a stay-at-home mom who wishes she had the ability to travel.
  • You have neurodiverse tendencies and no one around you gets it.
  • Is avocado poisonous to dogs?
  • a pandemic occurs and we’re all quarantined.
  • You’re a teenager on a Sunday afternoon with nothing but sports on television, no friends are home, and you’re bored stiff.
  • You need to finish a research paper.
  • You want to learn everything about archaeology but your small-town library books are 20 years out of date.
  • Ron DeSantis has banned everything except lollipops, macaroni and cheese, and straight, missionary-style sex between two white, heterosexual people, preferably married.
