Here is my Day 4 entry. I submitted it to a publication that doesn’t allow tags but didn’t want to not share it with y’all. The editor, Debra Groves Harman, worked with me to make it awesome!

I originally included my sister since the challenge was a conversation with a sibling, but Debra saw this as my story and urged me to take my sister out of the occasion.

She made it a better piece by having me flesh out the impact my grandmother had on us both.

The piece originally started this way as a tie-in to the challenge prompt:

Pat is three and a half years older than me. At this moment that translates to four years older since she just had her birthday and mine is five months away. It’s one of my favorite times of the year … I can rain torment on her for being so much older.

My sister and I have had a lifetime of conversations. I doubt there’s anything we’ve left unsaid, but there’s one conversation we both wish we’d had:
