I've noticed this. I'll get 300 claps pretty quickly after posting then go to the stats and 2 reads. Something isn't adding up. ;) If I can't read at the time, I will bookmark it to my reading list for later. That way I don't miss one of the challenge tribe's posts. (Although I do still miss them sometimes. )
