If Climate Change Doesn’t Worry You, You’re Not Paying Attention
Or, maybe you only care about yourself.
You continue to attempt a beautiful lawn, heavy with the use of weed killers and fertilizers, destroying the very plants that support pollinators. You water daily during the hot months, then run your lawnmower, and in the fall, your outrageously loud gas leaf blowers.
I drive by houses that are the epitome of the suburban dream, a little sign saying which pesticide and/or lawn care company has been spraying their poisons that week. FYI, without bees and pollinators, the food supply tanks and you’re doing everything in your power to guarantee it.
Plastic, plastic, plastic … all of those disposable water bottles, people buying them by the case, grocery bags that we think are recycled but are not, plastic fishing lines tangled in seals and sealife,
100% of baby sea turtles have plastic in their stomachs. There is now 5.25 trillion macro and micro pieces of plastic in our ocean & 46,000 pieces in every square mile of ocean, weighing up to 269,000 tonnes. Every day around 8 million pieces of plastic makes their way into our oceans.¹
