I relate to this story. After a close bond with my son, we had a rocky few years, after which he moved to a different state. Three years after my husband died, I moved to the same city, just a few blocks away.

Our relationship over these past 15 years of living nearby is exactly what we both needed. (I actually work a few hours a week at his restaurant!) It's been the best.
