McD’s Fish Filet, fried chicken, diet coke, chicken tenders, pizza, ice cream, Dorito’s, Cheeto’s, hot fudge sauce, potato chips, popcorn, cookies, chocolate cake, ramen noodles, decadent Starbuck’s drinks, Taco Bell Crunchy Taco Supremes, hot dogs, noodles … lots of noodles.

I’m sure I forgot something.

The problem? I want to be healthy, and for the most part I am. I choose to limit that stuff. Severely limit it. It’s much easier to do when I am eating a strict low-carb diet. And it’s not because that stuff isn’t on the list. It’s because I just don’t crave it when my dietary needs are being met through healthy fats and protein.

I have been eating this way for a little over three years. I lost and have kept off, 22 pounds, have crazy good triglycerides and HDL (that’s the good stuff), and feel fantastic.

Lately, I’ve been allowing myself to have a slice of toast here, some noodles there, maybe even a pizza or chicken tenders. The scale isn’t reflecting any changes, but I don’t feel as healthy or focused, so it’s back to basics.

What are the basics, you ask? It’s getting stricter than before. Laying out plans and shopping for the things that will get and keep me on the right track. Here’s what that looks like:
