I can see this as the beginning, or middle, of an expanded story as well. It's a great dialogue.

My personal opinion, is that, in the long run, the serialized drabbles, which totally miss the point of a drabble being a self-contained story, are going to be cumbersome for authors, and might even cost them readers who think they have to commit to the series.
