I appreciate how much of your history and culture you explained here, but I have to also say that it might have been better to split it into at least two articles.

The article wanders around a bit too much, and I understand because your passion is clear, but if you could split it into two, one about your New Mexican culture, and one about Ms. Flores, albeit informed by your experience, I think it would be more powerful.

I learned a lot and enjoyed reading about the meanings behind the terminology.
