Great summary! I don’t use xylitol as one piece of chewing gum causes me extreme gastrointestinal distress. Also, since it’s deadly to dogs, I fear one of my pups would get into it. I do occasionally opt for erythritol, and wonder if its biological impact would be similar to xylitol. It is not poisonous for dogs, suggesting a different mechanism of action.
I appreciate the half life info as well. Even though one can assume lower platelets after six hours, I imagine that those sticky platelets can wreak havoc on those prone to plaque, so regular use would be like flushing feminine hygiene products down the toilet, clogging up the works and causing trouble months later.
